Uh-oh. Big time.

I would like to apologize for the lack of activity on this blog, but there has been a real lack of confessions. Not to mention, work has been eating at my free-time. However, I’ve started to organize my schedule around and I’ll try to get to whatever confessions you may have. However, the inbox is empty. So, please feel free to change that, haha.

Just adding fuel to the fire of one of my favorite memes. I regret nothing.

I don’t like Squenix’s new direction, and I especially dislike the crummy spin-offs and sequels and the way they milked FFVII to death. But if they even suggested making a new Live-A-Live, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia or Terranigma, I’d throw my credit card at them. I’m a hypocrite.

While I could gripe all day about how I wish the merger never happened, how the quality of the games has changed and all that, what I’m really upset about is the fact that Squenix games don’t have the Squaresoft soft reset built in.

Author’s note: Can you guess what game this soft reset is for?

Barret is my favorite character in FF7, and in the whole series. And I hate that while I see a hard working, quietly tortured man who silently blames himself for the death of his town, his best friend, and his wife, and tries to find some kind of redemption in becoming an eco-terrorist, as well as taking care of Marlene, most people just see ‘the black guy who swears a lot’.

Hello and welcome to the Square Confessional! Inspired by the likes of Grasshopper Confessions, I’ve brought it upon myself to open up a confessional for the companies that has long been under the discussion of gamers. Squaresoft, a legendary milestone in the role-playing department with the even more legendary Final Fantasy series — and their merger, Square Enix, which has evolved into both a developing and publishing studio.

First things first, I’d like to set into the ground a few things before you submit your confessions:

  1. I will not be censoring any confessions. If you honestly don’t like swearing or too much of it, you have been warned.
  2. However, I will correct anything that is grammatically incorrect or any spelling errors. I know this isn’t exactly a subject that will cause people to get livid over, but I’m just saying. If there’s anything in your confession that is unreadable, I will try my best to correct it.
  3. Posting these confessions will take time. Granted, these aren’t going to take days to make, but remember that I do need sleep and I have my other blog that I frequent. However, this is my second Internet project, so don’t worry about productivity being extremely poor.
  4. Feel free to talk about anything. Music, visuals, direction, memories, anything is allowed to confess about. Have at it.

Well, that should be it! If you have any further questions, you can — of course — send those into the ask-box as well. I do a lot more than just confessions and I’ll try my best to answer any questions you have.

Have fun!
